What we collect

When you create an account, we collect your email address and username. These are used solely to authenticate you and send transactional emails (email verification, password reset).

We also store the topics, feeds, and preferences you configure — this is the core data that powers your personalised news feed.

Analytics

Cleave uses Umami, a self-hosted, open-source analytics platform. Umami collects anonymous usage data (page views, feature interactions) without cookies and without collecting any personally identifiable information. No data is sent to third-party analytics services.

• Analytics data is stored on our own servers and never shared

Data storage

All data is stored on servers located in the European Union. We do not transfer your data outside the EU.

Third-party sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties. The only external service that may receive your email address is Resend (transactional email delivery). Resend processes your email address only to deliver emails you explicitly request (verification, password reset).

If you sign in with Google, Google OAuth is used for authentication only. We receive your email address and name from Google; no other data is requested.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time.

• Delete your account: Go to Profile settings and use the “Delete account” option. All your data will be permanently removed.
